Brett,

Give it up. I grew up on Long Island and the Giants were perfect, and easy to grow with little care. Great soil, good tepid marine weather with rain in the Springtime, and Cool to Hot summers. When I was transferred to Atlanta in 1990, I had a huge plot of land, but this time the pumpkins were only fair. In 1995 I moved to Florida (Seminole, next to you) and to grow a pumpkin here at all is a miracle, let alone grow a Giant pumpkin.

The continuous unabated heat in the summer with no relief south of Washington, DC is the killer. Most people I know that do this (in their spare time anyway) and live South of the Mason-Dixon have the same problem...However, I do grow beautiful Pointsettas all year long.
