I heard recently that female pumpkins flowers are very sensitive to the climate. If you live in very humid conditions, it may take longer for the females to pop out.
: I have six healthy looking pumpkin plants with plenty of flowers. My problem is that all the female flowers (except one) stop growing before maturity and shrivel up. The one female that did bloom did not get pollinated because I had no mature male flowers at the time.
: Why do all my female flowers shrivel up before reaching maturity? Are the plants too close together? I am a beginning grower and really want to get at least one pumpkin this season. Thanks!
