You filled it with silicon? Ha-ha-ha! That's the first time I ever heard of anyone doing that! Ha-ha-ha! Stem splits really aren't that big of deal! The stem is hollow and it's really only the fiberous parts of the stem that feed the pumpkin. Care should be taken to keep the area clean and dry. But really as long as the flesh of the pumpkin isn't seriously cracked or split the pumpkin should continue to grow even with a stem split. Truthfully though most growers would probably be happier if their pumpkins didn't suffer from such problems as stem splits.
