Posted by Garry Borgen on April 04, 2002 at 13:50:24: What is the ideal climate, and geographic region of the US to grow the best pumpkins? The biggest, and best looking pumpkins I've seen are from Canada, New England, New York State, Pennsylvania, Michigan and Ohio. Is the climate and soil south of Maryland (on the east coast) too mild? Do we need different soil amendments and food? My wife and I grew pretty fair pumpkins when we lived in Connecticut or Ohio, but in the last 12 years in South Carolina and Northern Florida they have been less then fair. Any help or suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks- Garry Borgen
