Amount of land required for small patch

For many years I had a huge backyard in Delaware, and of the assorted vegetables and flowers that we grew in the garden, was our pumpkin patch. But now my wife and I have down-sized to a condo in Virginia. We have a small patch of land that belongs to us in the back courtyard. I need to know what is the smallest plot of land required for growing pumpkins? Is there a formula? When we lived in our larger home, we never paid attention to the amount of land it took to grow our pumpkins. Now that we don't have it, we miss it.

Any help in this matter would be much appreciated.
