Description: An easy to grow, sturdy perennial producing long spikes bearing hundreds of lavender to mid blue claw shaped blooms, always buzzing with bees. Lovely when grown as a background to Alchemilla mollis. Flowers Summer. Height 60-90cm (24-36in).
Sowing Instructions: Sow from late winter to early summer on the surface of a good free draining compost. Make sure the compost is moist but not wet and seal in a polythene bag until after germination which usually takes 2-3 weeks at 18-25C (65-75F). Do not exclude light which is beneficial to germination.
Growing Instructions: Transplant when large enough to handle into 7.5cm (3in) pots and grow on in cooler conditions or alternatively into a sheltered part of the garden. Finally plant out from autumn to early spring, 60cm (24in) apart in a sunny spot in ordinary garden soil which has had a little well rotted compost dug in.
