Description

A selection of the species with erect stems and many large, amethyst flowers.

Sowing Instructions

Sowing time:February to July.

Sow on the surface of a good seed compost. Germination can take 1-3 months at 18-20C (65-70F). Don't exclude light, keep the compost moist but not saturated, sealing in a polythene bag after sowing is helpful.

Growing Instructions

Lower the temperature after germination and when large enough to handle, transplant the seedlings to boxes or 7.5cm (3in) pots. When well grown gradually acclimatise to outdoor conditions and plant out 45-60cm (18-24in) apart.

Aftercare Instructions

They prefer full sun and a rich, well drained soil.
