Description A strain of 'elephant ears' with large, upward-facing flower umbels that emerged from mid-Europe in the 1940's. The bright coloured flowers available in rose, pink and red shades, with the occasional surprise of lilac, purple and white, contrast delightfully with the glossy dark green foliage. Flowers and leaves are useful to flower arrangers from mid-winter to early spring. Height 30-45cm (12-18in). Sowing Instructions | Sowing time: | early February to late May. | Sow on the surface of a good seed compost. Seal inside a clear polythene bag after sowing until germination which takes 14-60 days in a propagator at 18-20C (65-70F). Growing Instructions When large enough to handle, transplant the seedlings to boxes or 7.5cm (3in) pots. Grow on at cool temperatures, well ventilated and in good light. When well grown plant out 30-40cm (12-16in) apart. Aftercare Instructions Plant in ordinary soil and sun or part shade. Water well and in hot dry weather keep the soil moist until established.
