Description Spectacular and exotic, a self-clinging climber that produces a proliferation of rich crimson, rouge-red trumpet shaped blooms. Suitable for pergolas, south walls and fences. Moderately vigourous and hardy in many areas. Sowing Instructions | Sowing time: | February to July. | Sow in trays, pots, etc of good seed compost in a propagator or warm place to maintain an optimum temperature of 70-75F (20-25C). Sow in well drained compost, just covering the seed with compost, but do not exclude light, which is beneficial to germination. Sometimes slow to germinate. If no germination after 8 weeks, pre-chill for 3 weeks. Growing Instructions Transplant seedlings when large enough to handle into 7.5cm (3in) pots. Transplant into a 13cm (5in) pot and plunge in a nursery bed and plant out the following spring. Aftercare Instructions They prefer a well-drained soil, with plenty of compost added and a sheltered site in full sun. Provide something for them to climb and tie in during the early stages of growth.
