Description
A richly scented species, with shuttlecock-shaped pink blooms above attractive, marbled foliage from winter to early spring.
This species has given rise to many modern hybrids.
Ideal grown in borders, alpine houses or as a pot plant.
Sowing Instructions

Soak seed in warm water for 24 hours before sowing.
Sow on the surface of lightly firmed, moist seed compost in pots or trays.
Cover seed with a fine sprinkling of compost or vermiculite.
Keep at a temperature of between 10-15C (50-59F), and place container in darkness.
Keep the surface of the compost moist but not waterlogged; germination will usually take 1 to 2 months.
Place in light conditions as soon as seedlings begin to appear.
Growing Instructions
When large enough to handle, transplant into 7.5cm (3 inch) pots or trays.
Gradually acclimatise young plants to outdoor conditions for 10-15 days before planting out after all risk of frost, 15cm (6 inches) apart.
Aftercare Instructions
For best results, provide a fertile, well-drained soil in full sun.
Ensure tubers are kept dry during their dormancy period.
