Sowing Instructions
Sow mid March to mid April under glass for indoor cropping. Sow early April to May under glass to transplant outdoors. Sow seeds 1cm (½in) deep in pots or trays of good seed compost at minimum 20C (68F) under glass or in a propagator. Protect emerging seedlings from direct sunlight to avoid scorching.
Alternatively, only in the warmest areas, sow direct outdoors, 1-2cm (½ to ¾in) deep from mid May.
Growing Instructions
Pot on individual seedlings into 7.5cm (3in) pots of compost and keep barely moist to avoid stem rot. Maintain a temperature of around 20C (68F) Plant 2 plants per growbag under frost free glass for earliest crops, or in frames or cloches. Plants can be supported on strings/wires or grown on the flat. Pinch out growing point after 4 true leaves. Laterals will form. Train 4 laterals to 6 leaf stage and then pinch out. Sub laterals will form which produce fruit. Pollinate 4-5 female flowers (with a bump under the flower) on each plant with a male flower. Once fruit has set remove further flowers. Feed regularly with potash or tomato fertiliser.
Aftercare Instructions
Prefers humus-rich, moist, well drained soil. Protect from frost to extend the season.
