Description

The petite flowers of the 'Climbing Snapdragon' come in shades of red, pink, violet and blue, with speckled creamy lips. This attractive quick-growing, summer-flowering half-hardy annual will twine itself around trellises, or creep down from pots. The pale green foliage gives a soft foil for the dainty flowers. Also useful for pots or hanging baskets, flowering from early summer to late winter if protected from frost. Stems can trail 250cm.(8ft).

Sowing Instructions

Sowing time:early February to mid April.

Sow in a good seed compost just covering the seed with a very thin layer of compost or vermiculite. Germination takes 14-21 days at 18-20C (65-70F). Don't exclude light, sealing in a polythene bag after sowing is helpful.

Growing Instructions

When large enough to handle, transplant the seedlings into 7.5cm (3in) pots, and grow on in cooler conditions, potting on as necessary. For outdoor planting, gradually acclimatise to outdoor conditions and plant out in late spring after all risk of frost has passed 30cm (12in) apart in a sun or shade in a, sheltered spot and ordinary, cool moist yet well drained soil. On acid soils, a dusting of lime is helpful before planting. Provide a trellis, strings etc., for them to climb. They can be grown in a greenhouse/conservatory and will need a final pot size of 18-20cm (7-8in) and a minimum winter temperature of 5-7C (41-45F).
