Description A unique variety with amazing giant flowers, up to 3in long in carmine-red, which when open reveal creamy-white anthers! Flowers are produced from mid summer on and look wonderful in baskets, the conservatory or greenhouse. Plants are multi-branching from the base, so there will be good coverage. Sowing Instructions | Sowing time: | early February to mid April. | Sow in a good seed compost just covering the seed with a thin layer of compost or vermiculite. Germination takes 14-21 days at 20-24C (70-75F). Seal in a polythene bag after sowing and don't exclude light. Growing Instructions When large enough to handle, transplant the seedlings into 7.5cm (3in) pots, and grow on in cooler conditions. When well rooted, plant into baskets or container, using a good soil-less compost with some Sow-Lite (vermiculite) added. Leave in a shaded greenhouse for 2 weeks and then gradually acclimatise to outdoor conditions for 10-15 days before moving outdoors, after all risk of frost has passed, to a sunny, sheltered spot. Aftercare Instructions Water well and feed once a week through the summer. To overwinter, bring indoors to a cool, frost free place in autumn and keep just moist. For a windowsill pot plant, grow on in a 13cm (5in) pot.
