Sowing Instructions
| Sowing time: | After last frost so that pods will mature in the cooler weather of late summer to early fall |
In short season areas only, sow seed indoors, 5cm (2 inches) deep in 7.5cm (3 inch) pots or trays of good free draining, seed sowing mix. Place in a propagator or seal container inside a plastic bag and place at 18-20C (64-68F) until after germination which takes 7 to 10 days. All other areas should sow outdoors, once the soil has warmed, 15cm (6 inches) apart, 5cm (2 inches) deep and in rows 45cm (18 inches) apart. Do not be tempted to sow too early.
Growing Instructions
If sown indoors, gradually acclimatize to outdoor conditions for 7-10 days before planting out after all risk of frost, against support such as canes or netting. Hoe regularly and keep plants well watered. Mulch during dry periods. Do not be tempted to sow too early.
Aftercare Instructions
Prefers well drained, moist, rich soil.
Caution
Please note that beans must be cooked before eating to avoid discomfort.
