: I live in zone 4 and have several rose and wine wegelia bushes. They are in full sun and have a western exposure from my house. They dont get as dark purple as they were when I first planted them. Is this due to sun or ph or fertilization? What can I do to get darker leaves?

I think it's sunlight. I see these plants everyday at work and they are very dark. I've also noticed that the new growth is lighter in color than the mature leaves. At work they have sun for the entire day.
