Acuba/black thumbs in Manhattan

we have a good size yet shady garden in manhattan. We
have had our best luck with bushes and tree transplanted from our friends gardens"city soil".
We are not gardeners, but seem to be having good luck
with Acuba. My question ; Can we take clippings and
grow roots...and plant them....if so how do you do
that ? please help...scot and april
