: My Hinoki has suddenly turned brown. The leaves are almost all brown and dried out. I have increased the watering to try and save it. Any suggestions?
Your hinoki has blight. Blight is a browning of cypress plants caused by several fungi. The disease is most serious in wet and shady environments. Plants may be killed. Prune out the infected brtanches below the line between diseased and healthy tissue. You can spray the plant with a fungicide containing copper. MAke sure to water the soil and not the foliage too.
