I like Colorado Spruce, tolerates salt and drought and can be sheared to any shape or let grow naturally, also just about zero maintenance with no fall cleanup. I've heard 6' spacing is fine for in line planting but some say 12-15'. Also needles are very picky and does not encourage anyone to squeeze through.
