Pruning my Holly bush

Hello,

My husband and I bought a home and with it came a beautiful holly bush that stands about 10 feet high and is very round. It is in need of a trim and we don't know how to do that. What is the best way to trim one and the best time to do the trimming? Are there any special things we need to do in order to keep the bush healthy?
