I have been doing a lot of research on my own arborvitae for a different problem, and don't know anything about Round-up effects. But I did read somewhere that when an arborvitae starts dying from the top down, the problem is in the roots. Since they are very water-tolerant, its hard to believe, tho possible, that they are over-watered. Check if Round-up attacks roots.
