: : : A local nursery is recommending lorapateluna for my yard but I can't find anything on it in my books. It is an evergreen, deep burgundy in full fun, similar to barberry in shape and color without the thorns. Does anyone have one, where did they put it (sun/shade)?

: : I have never heard of this. Are you sure that the local nursery is giving you the correct name/spelling?

: I questioned them further, they said it was a fairly new shrub (4 yrs here) from china, sometimes referred to as a plum delight. I guess I will find out, I planted it yesterday.

Hi Donna,
Your new shrub is called loropetalum and it's a chinese shrub/small tree to about 12'. You can do a search at and get lots of helpful info. You can also click on 'Images' while there and often get pictures as well. Didn't it come with a plant tag? Here's one site that should be helpful. Oh, it prefers part sun or shifting shade.

It's a very pretty shrub/small tree.
