: I purchased 3 very small Ninebark (Diablo)shrubs and am trying to select the best spot in my yard. The tag shows 10' as ultimate hight. Can they be pruned (and when) to keep them down in size - maybe 5' ? And will this affect the flowering?
: I'd appreciate anyone's help on this.

I would suggest that you plant them where they can grow to their full potential and purchase something for the small spot. I call it the right plant for the right place.

If you must prune, prune after bloom.

Here's some sites that might be helpful.

These should be helpful as well.
