: we just recently got a puppy, and she's managed to kill most of our grass and plants in the backyard. (she especially likes eating orchids) are there any kinds of plants that dogs can not kill, if so what are they? is there anything else we can do to "dog-proof" our backyard plants? ~kat

Hi Kat,

There aren't any plants that I can think of that a dog can eat and it will survive unless it's poisonous and that would surely defeat the purpose of having a dog and a garden. You will have to put up some type of barrier so the dog won't eat, dig or sleep on your plants and possibly eat one that will kill her. You could use something as inexpensive as chicken wire until your puppy is old enough and trained well enough not to harm the plants. You will also need to spend time in the yard with the puppy and train her as to what she can and cannot do.
