Butterfly Bushes/Pruning

: I live in the west central Illinois.  I planted some butterfly bushes last year and they did beautifully.  I would like direction on how to properly prune them to get repeated results this year.  They look pretty straggly after the full blooms from last year.

: We've been having unusually warm weather and I need to get this done before they start to sprout.
