shrubs for road noise

I apologize if someone else has already covered this issue but I just found this site and am anxious to get some feedback.

What type of shrubs would anyone recommend to plant next to a busy road to help reduce noise. I live in south Georgia and need to plant shrubs next to a road for a distance of about 900 – 1000 feet. I would like for someone to recommend specific plants.
