I am going to be removing a line of yews, one 20ft+ tall yew and one 20ft+ cedar (all are at least 30 years old). We're planning on cutting them down and then ripping out the roots with a combination of 4x4 truck and shovels. My main questions is what do I need to do to the soil after I remove the cedar to make the area more hospitable for other plants? Do I need to be worried about the soil where the yews were? If I need to add lime what kind of guidlines should I follow for amounts?
