That's too much to comment on for me.
Cut each plant back to a ball shape about 2' in diameter and height. Then discard all that crud. Use loppers on the big cuts, and shears to do a little clean-up.
Rake debris and crud away from the base.
Sharpen your shovel razor sharp on a grinder or with a file. This will make it 50% easier, and make cleaner cuts on the roots.
Dig them up and move them. Do the cut back before May 1st. Its got to do with new growth coming in to shade the stems before hot summer sun arives.
Move the plants, and mulch around them well. Water the rootballs regularly.
They should grow at least 1' of growth by the end of summer if you do all this in the next 2 weeks.
