Summersweet

I live in Zone 7. I planted a summersweet bush last spring and it survived a tough summer drought last year. This past winter was harsh. There does not appear to be any new growth sprouting whatsoever. I'm afraid that it has not survived. Anyone know about this species and when it starts new growth?
