snowball bush

My daughter had given me a few branches of a snowball bush. The snowball bush had been neglected. The branches were weepy when I had gotten home. I put them in water over night. This morning I had nicked them and applied rooting hormone and planted them . They still look weepy to me. Can someone tell me if rooting hormone works and also whether I need to do something different? Looking forward to replies , Jennifer
