The second is probably a forsythia if the blooms appeared before the leaves. Take a look at this picture. http://www.umass.edu/fruitadvisor/2002budstages/0415/source/forsythia.html If this is it, when you are ready to prune it, cut the oldest stems to the ground and let the remaining branches cascade in a fountain shape.
