: I recently planted a Japanese Fireglow and it was doing fine ... until the leaves were eaten by some kind of fly (smaller than a house fly).  Even now that there are no leaves, I still find the flies on the stems where the leaves were.  The flies are not afraid of me either ... I have to pick them off.  What are these and what can I do to prevent them and hopefully save my tree?
