Scrape in weeping cherry tree-first aid needed!

: Hi All! My weeping cherry tree has a scrape.It seems like it is getting larger but my hubby doesn't think so.Still,I am concerned.It is a young tree which we wrapped the first year at the bottom.When the winter finally ended,we checked it out and the wrap was sticky from the  scrape or from the tree growing and the wrap cutting into the bark.What can I do.....I certainly don't want to loose it now that it has a good start.It was just beautiful this year despite the scrape.Please help.Thanks
