Foliage Loss/Weeping Willow

Our willow had been healthy throughout the 6 yrs we've had it, but this spring, and now summer, it did not fully leaf out fully as usual and has been deteriorating since. Gosh, very few leaves now and have no understanding as to what is happening. They are not yellowing before disappearing. Very harsh winter here in New England, but a neighbor's willow sapling is looking great. No bugs that I can see ... anyone know what might be going on? Would hate to lose it.
