I don't know about Privet - but I'd suspect shoots off the roots - like runners.

The other trees:

Mimosa can be messy, and is weak.

Locust has suckers as a real issue many feet from the main tree.

It drops blossoms for quite a while. And the tiny leaves could be a nuisance to some people. They are tiny, so they tend to cling to shoes and then fall as they dry out.
