: You are correct that these trees and privet are invasives, and even pests in the environment.  Privet has berries that the birds like and disperse all over the place, choking out all other native vegetation.  Mimosa is loved by butterflies and hummers, but sprout up everywhere.

: There are two locusts.  The common locust gets worms here in Maryland and several other states and makes it uncomfortable to walk under in mid summer and, over time, will have very large and spreading surface roots that will lift sidewalks and driveways.  The black locust will sucker all over and also browns out in mid summer.  They leaf out late and lose their leaves early.  They also get thorns on their trunks.
