I'm not sure what kind of magnolia it is. It isn't suppose to get larger than 30' tall. It's not a southern magnolia. My wife says that she thinks it's a Japanees magnolia. I live in middle Georgia and purchased the tree at a local nursey. I have gone back there but they were no help. The trees there didn't look any better than mine. But about two months after I had purchased mine my son also purchased the same kind and his doesn't have the same problem. The trees in the area do have some leaves dropping but it doesn't seem to be near as many.
