Posted by Andina on July 08, 2003 at 14:15:43: Our pear tree is so loaded with fruit that branches which were 6 feet high are now touching the ground. 1.5" bows are bent double. We coldn't possible use all the fruit. 1. Should I thin it out so the resources are more available for the remaining fruit and to relieve the stress? Last time it bore fruit - about 2 years ago, the fruit was hard and woody. Even when stewed they had a sandy texture. Is there anything I can do to improve the quality? Is this a symptom of too many fruit?
