We recently moved into our new house and have cultivated the new pears on our tree in the backyard. Many of the branches were heavy with so many pears that some limbs broke off during a heavy thunderstorm. I've picked the pears and need to know how far back and when I can prune the pear tree (ours is approx. 15-20 ft. high) so that more fruit will bear next year? I love the blossoms that produce during the spring. I want to make sure I do not prune too far back and abuse the tree.
