I want to sterilize mature walnut trees

I have a dozen or so mature walnut trees (black I think) on my property. I like the tree for its rigidity and height, but the walnuts it drops in the fall are messy and dangerous. How can I stop the walnuts and keep the trees? Can they be sterilized?
