I believe this is called chlorosis and it is either an iron or maganese deficiency within the plant. My privets, roses, and spirea are showing the same symptoms and I just fertilized but it hasn't gotten better yet. Copperas and iron sulfate are two stronger substances that will correct the iron deficiency.
