I have a weeping cherry tree that is very large; about 8 years old. It bloomed this spring, and produced leaves. However, the leaves hung wilted, and are now turning brown and falling off. The tree grew very quickly and developed a vertical split in the trunk that has gotten bigger over time, but never seemed to bother the tree before. Virtually no sap coming out of the split. There is a small area of healthy shoots coming from mid trunk that I would normally cut off, but have left thusfar until I know whats causing the problem with the tree. No apparent bugs or white residue. Any advice would be welcome.
