If you can leave the stems alone until the start of fall, while the little vine plants still have green leaves, I'm sure you can do major hurt to them with a lawn weed killer.

Lawn... Weed.... Killer....

Not RoundUp. But something that won't kill the grass.

At the end of summer, they should take the pesticide down with their own material into the roots.
