when to plant on Cape Cod?

: I plan on planting/transplanting oaks, maples and spruce trees in my new back yard located in Plymouth, Ma. for the purpose of providing privacy and eventually winter wind protection from off the ocean, which is approx. 500 yards away. 
: The trees in question will be 3-4 feet tall at planting/transplanting and not have to face severe winds till they've reached a height of 15-20 feet, due to neihboring trees.
: My question is: Can I plant in august/september or is it best to wait till springtime?
