flowering plum tree

I live in Austin Tx. It is hot down here in summer.My plum tree has sap that just seems to bubble out near base.Small amounts about 1/8 ti 1/4 inch and then just dries up.I don't think it is bore worms cause I can't find any holes. It seems to be healthy except for this fact.Can anyone help me in finding a solution? This is a flowering purple plum.
