I'm assuming that you are talking about taro when you say elephant ear. 6" sounds a bit deep to me - and 2 weeks isn't very long. The taro in our yard goes dormant for much longer. As it is a tropical it likes it warm, it likes sunlight, and it doesn't like stagnant water. Most, but well drained.

: I know nothing about elephant ears.The only directions was to plant it 6in. in the ground.It has been in the ground 2wks.Did the hole need any thing put in it like potting soil, miracle grow or anything else.Really my husband planted it.He was just trying to help out.Can I dig it up now and add other things to the dirt.Will it be safe.
