Gardenia bush-yellowing leaves

: My gardenia became very, very wet due to 3 days of rain.  The bush was in standing water. I put the bush in a pot that drains and the soil is drying out some but, the leaves are now turning yellow.  What should I do?  How dry should I let the bush get.  I have fertilized with Miracid?  Should I be using a different fertilizer?  Please help, I don't want to kill the bush.
