Posted by Suzie on July 10, 2003 at 18:45:37: I have a small, roundish shaped shrubby plant whose leaves are a very deep dark green on the top, and dark purple on the underside. It grows stalks out the top of the branches which each hold several small lilac colored upside-down bell looking flowers. The guy at the nursery said it is likely a penstemon (of which there are several), but is much prettier than any penstemon I can find anywhere. It grows wonderfully in hot direct sun but dies when it freezes. I live in Texas and not very many plants can take our western-exposure sun in the summer - that are this pretty - so I REALLY would like to know what it is. If it would help I have a picture I could send. Thanks!
