I planted four tomato plants in four containers that I used last year. Last year I planted three pepper plants and one tomato plant, but I don't remember which pot was used for which. I kept the same dirt and added a little extra. Three of the tomato plants died very quickly. On those same three tomato plants, I had put on some cedar mulch that I had leftover from my flower beds. I ran out on the third plant, so the fourth plant, the only survivor, didn't get any. Any ideas on why these plants might have died so quickly? Should one not plant tomatoes where peppers were? Will cedar mulch kill tomato plants? Any helpful tips would be appreciated.
