: : Is there anything I can do to prevent future tomatoes from getting the black spot (BlackRot) on the bottom of my tomatoes? Thanks for any info
: I had the same problem last year and found out that gypsum was the answer. The soil needs calcium I was told, plus the gypsum is good for tough soil. Add some to the soil around your plants and that should help-you can get it at the nursery. Follow the directions on the bag for the area you have. Good luck!
I too have that black rot at the bottom of many many of my tomatoes, and also this year they haven't grown larger then handballs. It could be that our weather here in North Idaho has been exceptionally strange this year, 3 weeks of 105 the another two weeks of 90 to 100 no rain till yesterday since first week in June. Now the evenings have turned to the 40-50's so I'm guessing the tomatoes really don't like all of these items
