I live in southeastern pennsylvania and have watermelons in my garden. They are in full sun and are watered regularly. We have been experiencing a rash of heat waves this summer and haven't had rain in quite some time. My watermelon fruits are about the size of softballs now and are beginning to split. Why is this and how can I prevent this from continuing and ruining my harvest? The rest of the garden vegtables are doing finr despite the heat and lack of rain.
